We built Quranote as a service to the Muslim Ummah — not as a commercial product. That founding principle shapes every decision we make about data:

• To provide the Service — delivering Quran content, translations, audio, search, prayer times, and bookmarks
• To operate your account — authentication, saving preferences, and bookmark synchronisation
• To calculate prayer times — using your location to compute accurate Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha times
• To improve the Service — anonymised analytics to understand which features are most useful
• To ensure security — detecting and preventing abuse, spam, or unauthorised access
• To communicate with you — responding to support requests you initiate; we do not send marketing emails

Quranote uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage essential to running the Service. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or any form of behavioural profiling.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies will prevent you from logging in or saving preferences but will not affect your ability to read the Quran as a guest.

Quranote integrates the following third-party services to deliver specific features. Each has its own privacy policy which we encourage you to review:

The Prayer Times feature can optionally use your device's GPS location to calculate Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha times. Here is exactly how this works:

• Location access is always optional — you can manually type any city name instead
• When you grant GPS permission, your browser shares your coordinates with Quranote solely to query the Aladhan Prayer Times API
• We do not store your GPS coordinates on our servers at any point
• Your location preference (city name) may be saved in your browser's localStorage so you do not have to re-enter it — this data never leaves your device
• You can revoke location permission at any time in your browser settings

Quranote is designed to be accessible to Muslims of all ages, including children learning the Quran. We take children's privacy very seriously:

• Children under 13 should only use Quranote with parental consent and supervision
• We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
• Children can read the Quran, listen to audio, and use all features as guests without creating an account — no personal data is collected for guest users
• If you are a parent and believe your child has created an account without your consent, contact us at info@quranote.com and we will delete the account promptly

Depending on your country of residence, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. Quranote respects and supports these rights for all users globally:

We take reasonable and appropriate technical measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse:

• HTTPS encryption — all data between your browser and Quranote is encrypted via TLS/SSL
• Password hashing — passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes; we cannot read your password
• Database access controls — only authorised personnel with a strict need can access the production database
• No payment data — Quranote is free; we never handle credit card or payment information
• Regular security reviews — we periodically review our security practices to address new threats

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service or as required by law:

• Account data (email, hashed password, bookmarks) — retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
• Analytics data — anonymised and aggregated; retained for up to 26 months in Google Analytics per their standard policy
• Server logs (IP addresses) — retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then automatically purged
• Location data — not stored on our servers at any point (see Section 6)
• Support emails — retained for up to 2 years to maintain correspondence history, then deleted

To request immediate deletion of your data, email info@quranote.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. When we make changes:
